Beginning to learn HTML

I realized that I really need a working foundation in HTML before getting too deep into JavaScript. Will need to understand JavaScript, and basic HTML to do anything advanced with LongJump CRM.

I’m using KompoZer on Ubuntu, which is a wysiwyg editor. Reasonably OK editor. Of course, my first web-page isn’t quite viewing correctly within Mozilla FireFox, so I have to resolve that.

I’m using “Head First HTML with CSS & XHTML” by Freeman (O’Reilly publisher). Interesting kind of book for technical learning — lots of white-space and fun add-ons.

Parallax “What’s a Microcontroller” – just got the basic kit

Just got the basic kit — was on sale for $49.99 with free shipping, so why not.

So far so good. Installed their app on my NetBook within the WinXP partition. There is an unsupported editor for Ubuntu, but haven’t gone down that path.

Created a very basic program that has the microcontroller send a message to the computer’s screen.

Had to get the USB attachment to be able to connect to the NetBooks USB.

The web-site is really informative (www.parallax.com).

Objective, over time, is to head into Robotics, but this is a great tool for learning the basic elements of electronics, which goes towards understanding Ham Radio Principles.

Trying to increase font size for Techozoic

Not sure why this is difficult, but can’t figure out how to increase the font-size for my posts.

Somewhat resolved:

I figured out that I wasn’t clicking the refresh button on my browser, so wasn’t seeing the revised web-page formatting.
For the most part, things are looking OK again, but still need to resolve how to make the header text larger and the blogroll section more readable.
